Introduction:

“Fear not, for I am with you. Be not afraid for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and I will help you.  I will uphold you with my glorious right hand.”

I have learned that the word of God, the Bible, is like a road map for the journey of life. It is not only relevant but a source of instructions for daily life.

When my husband and I drive through a new city or area, I usually do the navigating while he does the driving.  My independent personality does not easily conform to using a map.  I am more of a  “It’s in that direction” type of person.  He, on the other hand, is a very organized and  a “need to know” guy.  He would never drive into a strange area without first looking at a map, familiarizing himself with where he is and where he is going.  I have learned his way is much wiser and we actually arrive at our destination easily at the designated time without  the frustration of getting lost.
Our journey in life has been planned for us by our Creator and He has also supplied the “map” to aide us on our pilgrimage.  Our destination is Heaven and in my personal travels,  I have found the Bible has directions for all the dilemmas that occur on the road to the ultimate destination. As I spend more time in this  God inspired Word, I gain wisdom and direction for my journey.  Often the road is bumpy and rough and those are the times when I desire to be near my Saviour. When my longing becomes strong I spend time in His Word, in communion and meditation with Him.  He draws me closer to his side where I feel comforted and protected under the shelter of His mighty hand.
In the following pages, I have written some insights that have been helpful in my life and some truths that the Holy Spirit has brought to my mind, interspersed with parables that God used to teach me valuable lessons in everyday life. I have also taken license to include some personal writings from my journals throughout the years.  It is my desire that you, the reader, will benefit from the words on the pages of  Parables, Post Scripts, and Poetry,  A Daily Reading Guide.
