Philippians
4:8 “”....Fix your thoughts on what is
true and honorable and right. think
about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and
worthy of praise.”
The world is a negative place
today. Wars are raging, there are many evil people oppressing good people. Many are angry, many
are sad, some are in agreement with one side while others are in agreement with
the other side. Emotions are mixed but
strong.
It seems to be an accepted
way of life to be critical about leaders and the decisions that are being
made. It becomes habitual to argue and
be negative and call down the people in power who have to make the ultimate
decisions.
Paul says we should “fix” our
thoughts, that means ‘adhere’ our thoughts to what is honorable, pure , lovely
and admirable. Even in trying and
unknown times we need to look for the good.
We need to keep our eyes on Jesus!
Every day it is our responsibility to dwell on good and lovely things,
to think about excellent and lovely attributes of others. You will be amazed at how others become
better people and easier to get along with.
Respect for our leaders increases and the world becomes a better place
to live.
Prayer for
today: Heavenly Father, Thank you for reminding me to look for the
good things around me and there are many good things to look at. You created a wonderful world for us to enjoy
and instead of counting our blessings, we tend to dwell on the negative things. Forgive me Lord and help me to remember your
teaching and your love and your beauty. Also, Lord, I lift up our leaders to
you and pray that you will give them wisdom in making decisions. Give them the courage they need to follow the
convictions of their hearts. In Jesus name, Amen.
