Corinthians 4:18. “............For the
troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.”
When we are waiting for the
end of an ordeal, we wonder and ask,” Lord, How long?” “When will this be over?”
Our troubles seem to last
forever, sometimes. Some people seem to
experience more troubles while someone else seems to be almost exempt. I have a friend whose suffering has gone on
for many years. She no sooner gets
through one affliction and she is into another one. Sometimes it is health related sometimes
financial and often she hurts for her children who appear to be victims as
well. Despite this dilemma, her life is
an example of the hope of our glorious Lord Jesus Christ! She seldom complains and continues to cherish
the promise that “Joy comes in the morning.”
She longs to go home and be with Jesus but until that time comes, her
diligence and perseverance is very evident to anyone who knows her. She is my inspiration when I encounter
troubles and through her example I can face my dilemmas with the glorious hope
of being rid of troubles and having everlasting joy! What a glorious day that will be!
Prayer for
today; Dear Lord and Saviour, I am so
thankful for the promises in your Word.
I am glad this worldly life is just a training ground for our glorious
life with you! Thank you Lord, that our
troubles will soon be over and even when we are experiencing trials you are
watching over us and walking with us through them. Thank you that you promise
us joy everlasting. What a wonderful
hope you give us. Help me not to grumble
and complain but wait and look to that day when we shall see you and be with
you. In Jesus name Amen.
